ORANGE SOLAR SCREENS FOR THE TERRACE ON VIA PORLEZZA IN MILAN: A FLAGSHIP OF THE BRIDGE, URBAN OFFICE CAMPUS PROJECT
Resstende recently completed a new installation on the terrace of BC& Studio headquarters located at the picturesque Via Porlezza 8 in Milan, an integral part of the redevelopment project “The Bridge, Urban Office Campus.”
Rossella Gerosa, Project Manager at Resstende, worked closely with architect Marco Lecchi to develop a cutting-edge solution that ensures comfort and livability for the terrace, offering a welcoming and functional space.
Marco Lecchi, the project’s leading architect, commented: “The solar screens were integrated during the furniture design phase, a crucial moment to ensure every element contributed to the overall harmony of the project. The choice of Resstende as a supplier was driven by the company’s great professionalism, both technically and in interpersonal relationships with the professionals involved. This aspect allowed for an effective design and consultation process that considered the client’s desires and the technical and aesthetic requirements, combining them with Resstende’s experience to achieve a final result that satisfied all parties.”
From a technical perspective, the project addresses important installation and shading questions with an elegant aesthetic design, essential for the terrace areas dedicated to meetings and gatherings. The installed solar screens improve the livability of the spaces and contribute to energy savings, especially in summer, while also adding significant aesthetic value that creates elegant and comfortable environments.
Tiziana Crespi, assistant at BC& Studio, offers an in-depth look at the terrace shading project: “The screens were designed with a dual purpose: to protect from the sun and to provide privacy from the surrounding buildings. The color was not chosen randomly. The selected shade exactly matches BC& Studio’s logo. This color choice not only aligns the aesthetics of the screens with the studio’s visual identity but also creates a coherent and recognizable visual link for anyone observing the project. This decision reflects the attention to detail that goes beyond mere functionality, integrating the aesthetic aspect and the coordinated image of the studio into every aspect of the design.”
The Resstende project includes the installation of four horizontal Dallas TKO 135 awnings measuring 170×300 cm and four vertical Dallas 135 awnings measuring 170×275 cm, all made with orange Starscreen fabric – code 08411. This innovative fabric boasts exceptional qualities that make it unique. Its texture, not coated with PVC, combined with dimensional stability, makes it particularly suited for the world of furniture and architecture. It can be used both indoors and outdoors without losing its original color, contributing to maintaining the beauty of building envelopes and interior spaces. Additionally, the pleasant transparency allows for modulation of solar glare without depriving interiors of light. Providing transparency from a close position while obscuring the view from a distance, this fabric is suitable for those wanting to ensure privacy in reserved environments such as workspaces or residential areas.
Finally, these screens were designed to harmoniously integrate with the pergola initially intended to support the plants, elegantly framing the terrace and transforming it into a versatile and pleasant space, perfect for meetings and moments of relaxation, confirming Resstende’s commitment to innovation and excellence in design.
